A Coffee Break With Lake View
There are many cafe’s and restaurants along the water’s edge of Ingenbohl. So it’s very easy to stop in one of them, relax in the sunshine and order a coffee or your favourite drink.
We arrived in Ingenbohl before lunch on a Sunday, but it was already quite busy since the weather was so sunny and warm. Since we had driven up from the Ticino canton for a day trip, we first wanted to get a warm drink and enjoy the sunshine.
And yes you may spot that in my photo below this is not a coffee, but actually a hot chocolate (yum)! This was my drink, but the rest had coffee I promise!
Some of the cafes and restaurants with cosy outdoor seating and views include:
- Belmondo Café Bar
- Café Bar Amadeus
- Haddock Hafenbeiz Brunnen (here is where we stopped for our drinks)
- Kombüse – Kaffee & Take Away
- Seehotel Waldstätterhof outdoor seating area

The Ingenbohl Promenade Walk
Ingenbohl definitely looked like a lovely place for walking around during our short visit here, despite some shops closed due to it being Sunday.
There were people of all ages walking along the boulevard, many children’s prams and with dogs too. Seemed very family friendly!
The promenade area is from where the boat docks in the village all the way to the end where little private boats can dock up and stay longer. You can keep walking all the way up to the Othmar Schoeck Promenade past the boat area. Here at the end there were quite a lot of small yachts and speedboats all docked up. We did see one leaving for a little sail though!
TIP: Stay longer if you can to enjoy a boat trip. You can easily buy your ticket last minute at the office booth at the docking platform. Just keep in mind the time schedules, as there are more options during the Summer than in the Winter.

Grand Tour of Switzerland Sign
While walking along, you can find one of the many Grand Tour of Switzerland signs. This one in Ingenbohl is the ‘Vierwaldstattersee’ sign specifically, which is what Lake Lucerne is called in German.
The view behind the sign is facing towards the stunning Swiss mountains called Niederbauen-Chulm, Gitschen and Wissigstock – which are all part of the Uri canton of Switzerland.

Do you think that Ingenbohl looks like a great place for a coffee? We sure do and enjoyed our visit with the warm sunshine. We visited during February, so the warm sunshine on a Winter’s day was perfect.
