1. House Mojo – Zermatt
Canton: Valais
Located in the heart of the village of Zermatt, House Mojo is a stylish, industrial style apartment. So it’s not actually a hotel, but they do have a few apartments to choose from which just had to make this list. The view is an outstanding one. As you may think, Zermatt is the village close to the Matterhorn mountain. So when it comes to the view, you have an unobstructed view right towards this.
For facilities, the apartment has huge glass windows allowing you to stay inside and look out at the view, as well as seeing the Matterhorn Glacier Express chairlift and other houses nearby. What is also great, is that you have a balcony, where you can sit and enjoy the view while outside. There’s a little table and 2 chairs from the apartment we had, which was cosy for the winter.
During our stay, we really enjoyed the Gornergrat train journey to the top of the peak nearby. Book tickets in advance for the easiest visit, as queues can be long during the busy seasons.
The apartment is one of 4 that you can book for a stay, which we had booked the apartment on the right corner of the building. This one was perfect for us as we travelled as a couple, which was also our first time in Zermatt during the winter.

2. Hotel metropole – Interlaken

Hotel Metropole is a 4-star hotel located in a prime location in Interlaken for being right in the middle between Interlaken’s East and West Stations. It is the only tall building right next to the luxurious Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa, and for a much more economical price, Hotel Metropole shares the same view with this 5-star resort, the breathtaking Jungfrau – one of the main summits of the Bernese Alps.
In front of the hotel is the Interlaken Paragliding site so guests will also see a lot of actions. It is recommended to request a high-floor room but since the majority of the balconies are unobstructed, it is almost guaranteed that all hotel guests have a view.
Hotel guests are welcome to relax, and enjoy free coffee and tea at the spacious terrace lounge on the second floor; there is also a 24/7 fitness center, and a sauna room for hotel guests to wash away their exhaustion after a day of outdoor adventures, like having a day trip to Jungfrau, Top of Europe.

3. Lindner Hotel Interlaken Beau Rivage
Canton: Bern
Lindner Hotel Interlaken Beau Rivage is a nice place to stay because not only is it a great hotel, it also offers great views of Interlaken. Some of the rooms offer beautiful views of the town and surrounding nature. In the junior suite deluxe room there were multiple views from the sunroom, including the beautiful blue Aare river behind the hotel, a pretty church in front of it, and also of the nearby mountains.
Just incase you can’t splurge for a room with a view, there are other places to see the scenery in the hotel. The hotel’s Restaurant L’Ambience looks out over the Aare River, giving you a fantastic view as you eat lunch or dinner. There is also a hotel bar for after dinner drinks. Beyond that, Lindner Hotel also has a banquet hall for over 100 guests, a beauty centre and spa, a gym, a sauna and steam bath, and an indoor swimming pool.
The hotel, in the canton of Bern, is a 5 minute walk from Interlaken Ost, so if you don’t have too much luggage its an easy walk from the train station. The style of the hotel is Swiss grand luxury, but the rooms aren’t over the top, instead it has a more traditional feel. There’s a ton to see and do nearby such as paragliding over Interlaken, visiting Jungfraujoch which is Europe’s highest railway station, or exploring Interlaken by foot.

5. The Hotel International au Lac – Lugano
Canton: Ticino
The Hotel International au Lac Lugano is situated in an old historic building in the centre of Lugano, just a stone’s throw from Lake Lugano in the Ticino region. There are wonderful views across the lake and over to the surrounding mountains.
The interior is grand and feels very special to stay in. Art adorns the walls, and there is a peaceful lounge area with a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There’s no serviced bar in the hotel, but there’s an honesty bar in the lounge where you can choose from beer, wine, and soft drinks (tea and coffee is free). If you grab a seat at the far end, you can enjoy your drink while looking out to the lake. At the back of the hotel, there is a small patio garden and an outdoor swimming pool with loungers.
The hotel is perfectly situated to enjoy the main sights of what is a wonderful Swiss destination. The main centre is only a few minutes’ walk away, and it is an easy stroll to the funicular that goes to the top of Monte San Salvatore. Visitors can also hop on a boat nearby and cruise around the lake, or take a second funicular to Monte Bre. The hotel is also next to the Santa Maria Angioli Church, which houses what is said to be one of the country’s most famous early Renaissance frescoes.

6. Ruby Mimi Hotel – Zurich
Canton: Zurich
With a double room booked, our view was from the side street and looking right out to the river and snowy rooftops. Our room was on the 6th floor, but if you were higher up you’d have an even better view of the city! You can make sure to book a room with either a view or not through their site directly or via Booking there is often the option!
Located in the city’s first movie theaters, the Ruby Mimi Hotel reflects the style of the 1920s. Facilities include a beautiful bar and restaurant area, red velvet, shiny tiles, and vintage cameras. For the room, it was stunning. For a double room, we had lots of space, a lovely shower and a very comfortable bed.
During our winter Christmas weekend in Zurich, we loved our stay in this hotel. The staff were very welcoming and the location of the hotel was perfect to all the Christmas markets. Our personal review on this can be found here in more detail.
