Located in Ticino, this stunning Cascata Del Botto waterfall is an easy, hidden treasure for those in the area. It is one of the many waterfalls you can visit best between Spring and Summer. It’s an easy 20 minute walk from the nearest village, where you follow a dirt path to the waterfall. It’s not allowed to swim here, but is a great spot to relax at during a hot day, with the waterfall spray coming down near you.
SWITZERLAND WATERFALL FUN
The Cascata del Botto waterfall is a spectacular waterfall that is a little hidden treasure not far from the local villages. It’s a hidden treasure as you first have to walk through a jungle-like pathway to get there.
It’s an easy route with suitable shoes, mostly on a dirt path with the surrounding area of the waterfall as stone. It’s also suitable to visit with kids as well as dogs, which we saw a few before we left.
The Cascata del Botto waterfall is around 68 meters in height and created with the Sovaglia river, which flows down to Lake Lugano. The waterfall area is quite steep once you are near it, so you cannot really see the river going down the mountain for the whole distance.
During our visit, we went on a Saturday morning around 11am. There was no one there when we arrived despite it being a lovely day. However by the time we enjoyed our stay, took some photos and relaxed, more people did turn up after a while.
There is a small bridge at the Cascata del Botto waterfall, where you can enjoy the waterfall lightly sprays in your face. There are also rocks on each side of the waterfall you can sit on and relax under the trees.
To be aware, swimming here is prohibited due to the waterfall and surrounding location.
