Market Dörfli in the Niederdorf
Held in the Niederdorf quarter, many market stands are filled throughout the old city centre. Taking a stroll here is very picturesque, even if you don’t buy something.
Address: Niederdorfstrasse, 8001 Zürich
While also exploring Zurich, we suggest to combine the visit with the Observation deck viewpoint at the public university. You can get there by either walking up the hill for free, or by taking the little city funicular. You can buy a ticket from the machine or counter at the start of the funicular. A lot of locals use this, but plenty of room for tourists too!

The Singing Christmas Tree
A special highlight of the Zurich Christmas Markets is the Singing Christmas Tree, a beautifully designed tree-shaped stage where local carol singers sing their hearts out daily. It’s the perfect location to sign long!
Address: Werdmühleplatz, 8001 Zürich
Wienachtsdorf Village
Another highlight includes the warm winter wonderland Wienachtsdorf village markets near the Zurich Opera House, specifically on the Sechseläutenplatz square. The square becomes beautifully decorated with a huge food court, a 15-meter (49 ft) large Christmas tree and mini bonfires dotted around for staying warm while enjoying the area. The food court has literally everything, with not only Swiss food but international options too.
Address: Sechseläutenplatz, 8001 Zürich
Time To Dance
For party time, head to the courtyard of the Swiss National Museum. Here they usually have an indoor dancing area, with live DJs as well as food stands. It’s a chill area to enjoy a drink with friends or loved ones. The lighting in the courtyard area is a wonder!
Address: Museumstrasse 2, 8001 Zürich

Zurich Train Station
The Zurich Train Station is home to one of the largest indoor Christmas Markets in Europe, with around 140 stalls in total!
Like most Christmas markets stands, you can buy lots of homemade gifts. There are wooden stands everywhere, even in the Zurich train station. These homemade gifts include jewellery, home decorations, winter clothing, chocolates, pet gifts and more.
We loved also the food stalls, with delicious local delicacies as well as international foodie treats. We had some freshly made glühwein while shopping around.
The highlight of the Zurich train station Christkindlimarkt is the 10-meter (32 ft) tall Christmas tree. When we visited in 2023, it is a Christmas tree with reduced lighting. To make the lights really shine out brightly, visitors such as us and others have to generate energy by pedalling the 4 electric bikes set up around the tree. Many took part, even children!
Address: Hauptbahnhof Zürich, 8001 Zürich

Our Recommendation On Where To Stay While Visiting The Zurich Christmas markets
Finish your days by checking in at the Ruby Mimi Hotel & Bar. This hotel we recommend personally, with large rooms and the beds being so heavenly. The hotel offers really good service and its an ideal location to all Christmas events in Zurich.
They have a bar area, which is pretty fancy to sit in. When you get cold during the winter’s weather, warm up here with a cocktail or a bite to eat. We enjoyed a few drinks here at the hotel before heading out to dinner.
More on this hotel is also shared on our specific Zurich post – check it out!
