Get lost for a few hours at the beautiful Gambarogno Botanical Park in Ticino during Spring time. The botanical garden has numerous variety of camellias and magnolias, as well as tall trees and plenty of spots for relaxation. Located in the Ticino canton, it is one of the top places to visit during Spring.
Information
The park was established in 1952 and is operated by the Canton of Ticino. It has become a popular destination for botanists, horticulturalists, and nature lovers from around the world.
The exact location of the park is just a short drive from Bellinzona and Locarno, with Lugano around 45minutes away. It is easiest to visit with a car, but there are public buses to get you to the village of Gambarogno.
The park’s staff is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the diverse plant life found in the region and beyond. You will see the love and dedication put into the Gambarogno Botanical Park when walking around. It is well kept and beautiful to be here.
There is ample parking, but once you’ve found a spot, we believe its worth it.
At the gardens you will first see the building and store where you can buy local plants and gifts. Then at the entrance further down from the parking you will enter the botanical garden.
Address: Gambarogno Botanical Park, 6575 Vairano

The Gardens
In the park you can walk through each pathway and down to the river, where you also have an amazing view towards Ascona and Locarno with the mountains!
The park covers an area of approximately 10,000 square meters and is home to over 1,000 species of plants, including many rare and exotic varieties.
While in the park, you can stroll along the winding paths and admire the colourful displays of flowers, shrubs, and trees. They have a few pathways to follow that all meet up, so you might get lost but also find where you are again.
You can also walk down to the small waterfall area, which is very picturesque on a Spring day. Some bits during our stay was still being sorted out, such as with a new path being put in. So we plan to go back before the end of Spring to see the full park area.
Take your time while visiting if you can, and sit on one of the pretty red benches located around the park. On a beautiful Spring day you will hear all the birds surrounding you.

The Store
In addition to the gardens, you can also stop at the Gambarogno Botanical Park store and buy some plants for yourself to take home. This is mostly useful if you are local and not travelling from abroad however. They have a range of everything that you can think of, from the smallest of daffodils for your table to large palm trees for your gardens.
