Hiking Tips For Spring Time

Keep in mind that even though the spring is a great time to hike, the weather is still unpredictable, so it’s important to be prepared for any type of weather. It’s recommended to have waterproof clothing, warm undergarments and suitable hiking shoes. You can also consider taking a hat, gloves and a scarf.

Secondly, watch out for snow and ice: Even though spring has arrived, there can still be snow and ice on the Switzerland hiking trails, especially at the higher elevations in the mountains. You can consider taking crampons for your shoes and take trekking poles to help navigate the trails best.

Thirdly, is to watch out for the actual melting snow as well as the trails becoming muddy and wet. This can make the trails much more difficult to navigate and increase the risk of slips and falls. Additionally, some trails might be closed due to snow or maintenance, so it is important you should check the trail status before starting the hike.

Summary

In conclusion, Switzerland has a wide variety of mountains to hike in the spring time and is a perfect destination for nature and adventure enthusiasts. We are personally only living in Switzerland since 2022, but our list to visit mountainous hiking locations is growing and growing, so we cannot wait for spring time to enjoy!

These 10 mountains mentioned above are some of the most popular and offer a great range of difficulty and views. Make sure to do your research for the trails of your choice, and of course to prepare yourself with the right clothing and gear.

Another enjoyable road trip through a scenic Swiss Another enjoyable road trip through a scenic Swiss route: Simplon Pass ⛰️
At 2006m elevation, it's a stunning route to drive, stop for a coffee and admire the beauty of the mountains as part of the Valais canton. 🇨🇭
As you can see, for our visit this May 2023 there was still snow on the upper peaks, but the road is clear and easily drivable. 🚘
Have you ever driven here? ✌️

When in doubt, always take the scenic route 🇨🇭🚘
We love driving, and will always make time for a scenic route over a busy highway any day.
These videos are from our journey at the San Bernardino Pass on a recent sunny day ☀️
Tips for a scenic route drive:
- make sure you have enough gas ⛽
- take your camera! 📷
- have some snacks/drink for if you stop to admire the landscape more (trust me, it's always good to stop for mini breaks!) 🥃
- have fun! 💜
The San Bernardino Pass has recently opened for the 2023 season, so it's open now for you too!
