Here are our 5 recommendations for you:
1. bristol zermatt switzerland
This lovely 3 star Zermatt hotel is a great place to stay and relax at during a visit to Zermatt in Switzerland. For facilities, the hotel has a bit of everything, from breakfast time (with local cheeses, fresh breads and a spot where one can prepare own eggs and waffles) to the end of the day with a trip to the sauna and steam bath. These are both perfect after a long day of exploring around Zermatt.
The hotel is very clean, welcoming and has rooms with a view of the Matterhorn. To get there, the hotel does have free shuttle to and from train station. Once arrived, the rooms are small but cosy, just what we needed for our stay. The entertainment system is also helpful to know the weather conditions up on the mountain before your day of explorations.
The hotel provides ski/boot storage with boot dryers, good wifi for when your inside and the staff are very helpful for advise and recommendations for places to eat nearby.
2. Hotel Fleus de zermatt
Hotel Fleurs de Zermatt is a stunning hotel set in a quiet neighborhood close to the train station and within walking distance of all that Zermatt has to offer. We stayed there several nights as part of an Italy and Switzerland road trip and it was our favorite hotel.
This mountain hotel is a gem with a fantastic vibe and a cozy atmosphere. The lobby offers a fantastic breakfast in the morning and a lovely bar in the evening, with a cozy crackling fire.
The wellness area was a highlight for us, which includes a fantastic heated indoor/outdoor pool. We found in the cold evenings this was an incredibly invigorating and fantastic experience.
The hotel delivered on everything we could hope for – from the views, to the breakfast, and the service. The Nespresso machines in our room were also a lovely touch.

3. Hotel Cheminee, Zermatt
While traveling to Switzerland, I stayed at the Hotel Cheminee in Zermatt. The hotel is a rustic-style lodge with comfortable and clean rooms. Many rooms come equipped with a lovely balcony view of the Matterhorn.
Each suite is spacious, so they are great if you are visiting in the winter with ski gear or packing a lot of luggage. Suites have attached bathrooms with modern amenities.
I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Cheminee, mainly due to its balcony views and central location. You can easily walk from the hotel to the train station and the main street to restaurants and transportation elsewhere.
The hotel has a cozy restaurant where it serves meals and drinks. Breakfast is paid, and it is so worth it for the convenience if you are planning to go skiing or hiking early in the morning from Zermatt.
TIP: The Klein Matterhorn Mountain Cable Car is 900 metres away from the Cheminee Hotel.

4. Riffelhaus 1853 Hotel Zermatt
Staying at Riffelhaus Hotel in Zermatt is a very special one, located just a short distance from the Riffelberg train station up the mountain. This is at 2,582 meter elevation and with a beautiful view of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains. The views are what sells the place!
We loved our stay here as it’s very peaceful, and perfect for stargazing in Switzerland on a clear night sky. They have many rooms available, and also a sauna and jacuzzi which is great after a day of exploring during your stay!
The restaurant facilities are welcoming, with both external and internal terraces. They have a good choice on the menu with a nice wine selection.
The staff at Riffelhaus hotel are very helpful and welcoming, and the hotel can help with bringing big luggages to and from the station if needed.
Fun Fact: Hotel Riffelhaus in Zermatt opened even before the Gornergrat railway was built. The beams and stones were hauled up the mountain by mules and using a lot of manpower.
5. House Mojo
We picked our stay at House Mojo so that we could have a spacious apartment for ourselves. The accommodation however had up to 4 apartments to choose from with different layouts and size. The manager personally met us during checkin and gave us a small tour of the apartment which was a really nice touch.
For the location, the apartment was within 10 minutes from Zermatt village and the view from the balcony is one of the best uninterrupted views of the Matternhorn. To wake up with a view like this was absolutely amazing!
The kitchen was well equipped, the living area with tv had Netflix for the evenings and the bathroom had a bath and a shower. As for the bedroom, this had plenty of storage and was perfectly comfortable for resting.
It was also just a short walk from the main Matterhorn skilift to the top, which was perfect for our explorations around Zermatt as non-skiers!
